tour #1 – Fraa Rauscher, old cars and fuck authority

…rollin’ over Germany day three – Fraa Rauscher, old cars and fuck authority

…today Frankfurt a. M was on my itinerary. Cause some of the Jugendlichen had already been in GEMMERICH yesterday, and let’s say hadn’t quite recovered again, I was very curious about how many could be motivated to show up on a sunny Sunday. So I headed to ALT-SACHSENHAUSEN, Frankfurts amusement district.

We met at the ANGLO IRISH Pub at 2 pm and enjoyed one or two cold beverages under sunny skies. I was supported in organization by the TURBOJUGEND OFFENBACH during my stay. Founded in 2014 they count nowadays six members, three of them showed up today. The Quintett was rounded out by DANIEL DÜSENTRIEB, president of TURBOJUGEND BAD NAUHEIM. That was about it – a small manageable group, but not any less fun.

The four showed me round the alleys of Alt-Sachsenhausen, in wich one could clearly see the marks of the last party night. They told me about the history of this area and explained it. There’s for example FRAA RAUSCHER, a stature, wich is watching over this quarter. “Fraa” means “Frau” (german for women” in Southhessian and “Rauscher” is an allusion to a very popular young, still fermenting applewine. Rausch means drunkenness in german, therefore this applewine doesn’t only rush into ones head, but can also gives you the runs when consumed excessively.

As you can see on the last picture, Fraa Rauscher has a special gimmick an integrated waterspout. It waters from time to time the area, which was gladly made use of at a hot day like this day.

We decided to turn our back on Frankfurt, because it seemed like there was nothing thrilling left to see. Our next destination was OFFENABCH, at which a top model was supposed to wait for us. UDWIG VON ÜBEL is the proud owner of an OPEL KADETT C from 1976. The perfect vehicle to involve into a  todays photo-shoot. The old HEYNE FABRIK served us as a location, its rooms are used for any kind of hip stuff today.

The nice thing about a small group is, that i can take much more time to photograph. Therefore it was kind of nice, that some of the Jugendlichen overslept this sunday. We gathered momentum and thats why tomfoolery was bound to happen. At this point I have to say, that LUDWIG VON ÜBEL has a weakness for climbing, that’s why there wasn’t a lot to say to get him motivated for the next picture.

Since I’m from Hamburg, I’m always attracted to water, that’s why our next stop was the Offenbach harbor. At the next opportunity I will explain to the guys what a real harbor is, but cause I’m a polite guest I let them believe what they wanted to this time.

As a true Sailor, every Jugendlicher is of course tempted to board ships or boats to explore the world on water. Well… it’s too bad when said boat has been decommissioned and dry-docked.

Since the boat, wasn’t meant to get us far away, we were looking for the next spot, which was only a couple of meters away.

We found an information sign lying in the gras which said (in German):

Vorsicht! der Aufenthalt und Verkehr unter schwebenden Lasten ist verboten

Translation: Attention! Staying and traffic underneath floating loads is forbidden. Since it’s the proper thing to do for punk rocker, the gentlemen defied the authorities and did exactly what was forbidden: traffic underneath floating loads.

Some wicked shit, you can’t paraphrase it any other way. We decided to leave the photographing be and set out for the Offenbach city center, to enjoy the estival evening and eat something.

Many thanks to LUDWIG VON ÜBEL, who took care of everything. Things were different here than at  BOCHUM TOTAL or ASSROCKET ON ABBEY ROAD, but that’s exactly why this project and tour is so special.

Unfortunately I had to change the course of my tour, thats why I’m not going to VENLO and after that to AMSTERDAM tomorrow, but heading south instead. I’ve already driven a bit to DARMSTADT, where MADDIASS from TURBOJUGEND DARMSTADT gave me shelter for the night.

Speaking of cars, MADDIASS drives a 1972 OPEL MANTA A, with wich we drove around the block and through his neighborhood where this picture was taken with my cell phone.

Next we went to the HEINERFEST. Let me explain „Heiner“, is a name for long-time residents of Darmstadt, Darmstädter who were born here. It’s one of two festivals during which the whole city of Darmstadt lets loose. A wonderful summer day has come to a close and I’m happy to go to sleep. Thank you for everything.

Ahoi! from Hamburg
